Companies

The Companies API suggests Danish companies as a name or CVR number is typed: for a supplier, sign-up or invoicing form that needs the company behind a name. It searches every active company in CVR (Det Centrale Virksomhedsregister), by its legal name and by its other names (binavne). Free, and rate limited, on every plan.

Step 1.

Suggest companies for what has been typed.

Every typed word matches the start of a word of the name, so 'bag eksempel' finds the same company. Legal names come first, then other names; a company found by one of its other names says so in name_type and gives its legal name in legal_name:

A name needs at least 3 characters. Type an 8-digit CVR number instead, with or without spaces or a DK in front, and the company that holds it comes back; a number whose check digit fails comes back empty, and costs nothing.

Step 2.

The selected id is passed to the Company API for the full record.

Parameters

Parameter	Description
term	In the path: part of a company name (at least 3 characters), or a CVR number. A name with a slash in it, such as `A/S`, may be sent as typed or escaped (`%2F`).
top	How many suggestions, 1 to 20. Six when left out.
api-key	Your API key, or a domain token from browser code.

Suggestion fields

Field	Description
name	The name that matched, as CVR spells it.
name_type	`legal`, or `other` for one of the company's other names (binavne).
legal_name	The company's legal name, when that is not the name matched; otherwise `null`.
cvr	The 8-digit CVR number.
status	`active`. Only active companies are held; a ceased company is not suggested.
postnr, postnrnavn	The postcode of the company's location address.
url, id	The full record's path and the CVR number to pass to /company/{cvr}.

Company data is from Det Centrale Virksomhedsregister (CVR), Erhvervsstyrelsen, under CC BY 4.0 (Data sources). A company marked reklamebeskyttet in its record must not be used for direct marketing.
